Role & Mission
The role of the County of Los Angeles Public Library is to provide community residents with the information they need, with opportunities to read, with programs and materials to assist children and youth in educational success, and with help from trained staff in using these resources.
The County of Los Angeles Public Library is a network of community-focused libraries that meet the informational, educational, and recreational needs of a diverse public.
Services
The County Public Library offers the following services in your neighborhood:

Books and Other Library Materials
Each library has a collection of materials in various formats, including books magazines and newspapers, videos, and audio recordings. The community libraries have materials in English and Spanish. The full County Library collection of almost 10 million items can be accessed from each community libraries.

Services available to customers include basic reference, public computers with Internet access, online library catalog with access to the entire collection of the County Public Library, online periodical indexes, Homework Centers, children’s storytimes and programs, school visits, coin-operated copy machines, and a Literacy Center.
These services are available free of charge. All you need is a County Library card. You can obtain your library card at not cost at any County Library. You will need to fill out an application and show a photo identification and current residence. Parents must sign the application for their children. A library staff member is there to help.
